Only Moments

Remembering dim rooms
hushed conversation
whispering those compliments
almost embarrassed
trying to communicate the reverence
the pure weight of all this feeling
wading so deep in love

Ah, they’re only moments…

Remembering falling rain
buried in each other’s coats
kissing through smiles
desire whilst laughing
being perfectly overwhelmed by someone
the greatness that is all-consuming
swallowed so deeply by love

They’re only moments
so missing
so missed

Today is bright, today is dry
ah, but to feel again that feeling
to feel again
the deepest drowning of love
the greatest feeling

Those moments
only moments
so missed
so missing from my life…

Thanks for reading.

    1. Thank you Ivor. So nice to see a comment from you. I sure meant this one when I wrote it. Those moments (and they’re only moments) are like gold dust. Don’t let them go unrecorded or under appreciated.

    1. Thank you so much. Absolutely have to hang onto those memories and keep them alive. Trap them in a poem if you can πŸ™‚ Really glad you enjoyed.

  1. Tom from 2011, I love this. Tom from 2021, the fact that you wrote this 10 years ago is not lost on me. I wonder how you feel about this poem as you look back on it. To me, the emotions are captured beautifully and remain relevant and timeless regardless of who they were written about or when. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

    1. Thanks Bree! I didn’t think much about this poem when I first wrote it. I thought it felt a bit too matter-of-fact without much ‘decoration’, a diary entry or a conversation with myself. It has gone on to be the poem on my blog that has received the most attention. I suppose that naked honesty works in its favour and I should probably learn something from that πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for reading and commenting.

      1. I understand what you mean. Sometimes it the raw, undecorated emotions that people connect with the most. I must keep that in mind. No worries, always enjoy reading your work Tom.
